Introduction
Following the UK’s exit from the EU, an automated IT system for registering travellers from non-EU countries, including the UK, each time they cross a border into or out of the EU was required. Travellers need to scan their passports or other travel documents at automated self-service kiosks prior to crossing the border.
This replaces the current manual stamping of passports for visitors to the Schengen area who are not nationals of EU or Schengen countries.
The system will register the person’s name, type of the travel document, biometric data and the date and place of entry and exit.

The Project
The works are spread across the Port of Dover’s Eastern and Western Docks and delivered whilst one of the UK’s busiest ferry ports continues to operate. They comprise a new car processing canopy, installation of an array of modular buildings for the processing of coach passengers, and various civils and MEP works to facilitate the scheme.
Utilising various NEC forms of contract, M&P have been central to the commercial management of this high profile and fast paced project within this piece of national critical infrastructure.
