Canvey Island Southern Shoreline is formed of 9 tidal defence assets and 1 floodgate asset on the southern amenity frontage of Canvey Island. The defences are formed of large clay embankments with a concrete upstand wave wall that clads a steel sheet pile core. The estuary side of the embankments are protected by stone/concrete revetment. The appraisal stage of the project established that the revetment has reached the end of its serviceable life and requires replacement in order to allow the other parts of the existing flood defence asset to serve until 2070. The detailed design for the replacement of the revetment and its associated features has been developed under a separate Task Order.

This phase of the project will undertake the procurement, construction and commissioning of the replacement revetment, removal of any existing revetment necessary and the construction of the scheme’s associated public realm and environmental enhancements.
